Crafting a beloved brand
Senior Frontend Engineer · Frontend/API Architecture

Context
I worked on the LEGO engagement together with a backend architect, embedded at LEGO's location in Jutland approximately two days a week and working remotely for the remainder. The engagement was focused on deep technical craft and architecture across the frontend/API boundary — for a brand where quality and attention to detail are non-negotiable.
The Challenge
A significant part of the work was transforming an existing static website into a single-page application, at a time when SPA architectures were still relatively new. Doing that well meant getting both the frontend structure and the API contract right. It wasn't a matter of switching frameworks; it was rethinking how the site was composed and where responsibilities should live.
What I Did
We applied Clean Architecture principles to structure the solution — keeping the frontend decoupled from delivery mechanics and API concerns separated from presentation. Working alongside the backend architect, I designed the frontend architecture and worked across the API boundary, shaping the contracts as well as the composition on the frontend side. The engagement demanded the kind of attention to code quality, structure and long-term maintainability that later became the foundation for the architectural work I moved into.
Outcome
LEGO's site moved from a static build to a single-page application structured on Clean Architecture principles — organised so that the layers could keep evolving without collapsing back into each other. It was one of the engagements where my work started shifting from craft toward architectural responsibility.
